That which among other causes tends to place English agriculture at so high a point is, that the English farmer is a man of independent capital; and that in various forms capital made in trade finds its way into the improvement of farm-operations. The old system of taking the rent in kind has been superseded because the tenantry have become, in a mercantile sense, responsible men. An indirect result of the relation of landlord and tenant in England is, ugg classic tall boots that while the landlord has every inducement to improve his property and take an interest in a thriving tenantry, he is relieved from petty details, and enabled to devote his time to the public service.
